Sundown after rough weather at the coast
The image shows the sundown after rough weather at 14 Mile Beach on the West Coast of New Zealand some 20 to 25 km north of Greymouth. The coast line is exposed to frequent storms and heavy swells, leading to erosion and weathering of the solid bedrock exposed at that part of the coast. The bedrock, slightly metamorphosed metasediments ironically mainly originate from deposits that once have been deposited in an ancient ocean. Now, coastal erosion and weathering is completing a cycle and the detritus will again be depsited off-shore.
