La Zarza mine, already exploited by Tartars and Romans, has about a thousand excavation wells. It was abandoned and reopened many times. Finally, it was closed in the 90s of the 20th century. In recent years plans companies and public institutions have designed plans to reopen it, but it still remains closed. The accumulation of slag and acid water is a constant risk of contamination.
