La Cumbrecita from above
by Sam Thiele
Canary Island pine forest perched on an inaccessible ledge 400 m above La Cumbrecita (La Palma, Canary Islands). These rugged cliffs are the eroded remnants of Volcán Taburiente, and provide unrivalled exposure of its inner volcanic plumbing system and insights into the growth and collapse of ocean island volcanoes.
