by Antonio Jordán, University of Seville, Sevilla, Spain
The soil bordering the Santa Olalla Lagoon develops from aeolian sands and has a mollic A horizon 50 centimeters thick, with a high content of organic matter (about 9-10%). Soil texture is sandy loam (surface) to sandy (in depth) and soil pH varies between ~5 at the surface and ~8 at 150 cm deep.
