Snow drifts in Ny Alesund, Svalbard
by Andy Smedley, University of Manchester, Manchester, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Taken during the first field campaign for the Lost Meteorites of Antarctica project. We were based in Ny Alesund, Svalbard for the first polar test of the equipment, and were staying in the UK's Arctic Station (the red building on the right hand side). These impressive snow drifts had been sculpted between the buildings and greeted us each morning.
