Desert landscape

Fuerteventura (Canary Islands, Spain) was formed between 5 and 20 million years ago by volcanic eruptions. Although temperature is mild, annual rainfall is very low (about 100 mm per year). In addition, rainfall varies strongly between years and at local scale, contributing to form arid landscapes like this.
