Ibón de Truchas
by Antonio Jordán, University of Seville, Sevilla, Spain
Ibon is the term used in areas of the Spanish side of the Pyrenees for small mountain lakes of glacial origin glaciar, generally above 2,000 m altitude. This is the Ibón de Truchas (Huesca, northern Spain) located at an altitude of 2144 masl.
When the slope is not too high to trigger erosion processes, soils are rich in organic matter, and Umbrisols and Phaeozems can be observed.
