Tourist at Breidamerkursandur, Eastern Iceland
by Ragnar Sigurdsson (arctic-images.com), Iceland
The Jokulsarlon lagoon is popular among travelers and many choose to enjoy a boat trip in its waters or walk the long shores. The lake has repeatedly been used as a natural set for movies and advertising campaigns. The photograph portrays the ocean beach at the Jokulsa river mouth and small icebergs stranded in the sand. They have been carried by the river underneath a bridge and washed ashore. The next land to be found on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, very far south of Iceland, is icy Antarctica.
