Pool inside a rift
by Stefano Urbani, University of "Roma Tre", Rome, Italy
This is a view from the inside of a rift segment in Thingvellir National Park (Iceland). This small canyon separates the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates representing a visual representation of continental drift. You can see a lot of fissures throughout the park, some of them filled with very clear water (you can see coins in the bottom at almost 20 meters depth).
