Marsyangdi valley moraines
Sediment storage along the Himalayan Marsyangdi valley at Manang in the Annapurna Conservation Area in Nepal. The picture is taken to the east (downstream). The moraines are remnants of a glacier originating at the north face of the 7555 m Annapurna III summit. They are forcing the river to braid upstream where it flows in a wider channel bed than downstream. The village of Manang sits on top of fluvial terraces on the left side of the picture.
