Black sand
by Evdokia Tapoglou, Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece
The black sand beach in Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland. Vík's visual trademark is Reynisdrangar, a row of spiky basalt sea stacks that looks like a submerged stegosaurus and has long served as a navigational point for sailors.
