Green river

Lemna minor (common duckweed or lesser duckweed)is a species of Lemna, occurring everywhere that freshwater ponds and slow-moving streams occur, except for arctic and subarctic climates. It is not reported as native in Australasia or South America, though is naturalised there. It is an important food resource for many fish and birds (notably ducks); it is rich in protein and fats. In this picture the aquatic plant is in Gara River, this river rises at the junction of the southern slopes of the Great Dividing Range and the Ben Lomond Range, and flows generally south and southeast, joined by four minor tributaries, until the river reaches a junction with Salisbury Waters within Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and descends to its confluence with the Macleay River, south east of Armidale, Australia.
