Colorful sinkholes at the Dead Sea
by Djamil Al-Halbouni, GEOMAR - Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel, Germany
Sinkholes form in the former Dead Sea lake-bed due to the regression of the lake. Their colors are determined by water and ground mineral composition and the angle of view of the camera due to polarization effects.
