Former shoreline of the Dead Sea
by Djamil Al-Halbouni, GEOMAR - Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel, Germany
The retreat of the Dead Sea leaves salt-rich former shorelines that have been captured by aerial photography with a helium balloon. The shallow water can be seen on the far lower right of the image. The current lake-level in dec. 2016 is at 430 m below mean sea level.
