Lightning with Rhino
by Christoph Schmidt, University of Bayreuth
Rain is a rare occurrence in the Etosha Park in Namibia. Cold oceanic currents suppress the convection of air and hence rain. One night, when watching a rhino at a water hole, a thunderstorm developed at some distance but brought no rain. Long exposure and some luck helped to freeze the lightnings in this amazing scenery.
