Silver braided river
by Chiara Arrighi, University of Florence, Florence, Italy
Large river beds are common in Iceland because spring snowmelt produces high flow discharges. In summer the river bed appears oversized with many bars generated by the huge sediment load coming from the glacial valleys in the Vatnajökull area.
