Sea and Bora-wind interactions
by Renato R. Colucci, Dept. of Earth System Sciences and Environmental Technology. CNR-ISMAR, Trieste, Italy
A Severe wind-Bora storm over the eastern coasts of the Adriatic Sea produced large sea water spray due to strong wind gusts. Here we are just few hundreds of meters from the coast of Trieste (Italy) on January 17th, 2017. Average wind velocity is around 25 m/s (90 km/h) and gusts up to 145 km/h. The weak light at the sunrise produces spectacular sea-water rainbows when strongest gusts push sea spray tens of meters high on the sea surface.
